Baseball Recap: Notre Dame Spartans vs. Mahanoy Area Golden Bears        
        
		
            
 Notre Dame had to hit the road for their first game and  sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears by a score of  5-4 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Notre Dame of the  15-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in March of 2023.
  William Ferguson put in work no matter where he played. He  struck out ten batters over  six innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   two  hits. Ferguson was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing five bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Lucas Vega was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 1-for-3 with a  stolen base and two  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Matteo Antonucci, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases.
 On Mahanoy Area's side,  the team  relied heavily on  Daniel German, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4.  Ryan Fisher was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
 Mahanoy Area's win bumped their record up to 2-0.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will take on Wilson Area at 2:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Notre Dame is facing Wilson Area at the right time seeing as Wilson Area is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak. As for Mahanoy Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shenandoah Valley at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
