Recap: Wheeler Eagles vs. New Site Royals
The Wheeler Eagles lost against the New Site Royals back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wheeler fell 61-48 to New Site.
Wheeler's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Kate Beckham, who scored 17 points, and Alayna Partlow who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds. Beckham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Mason, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wheeler were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Site only pulled down eight.
Chloe Chism was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists for New Site. That makes it six consecutive games in which Chism has scored at least 25% of New Site's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hodum, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for New Site, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheeler will take on Baldwyn at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for New Site, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Thrasher at 6:00 p.m. Thrasher will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
