Basketball Recap: Eastern View's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Eastern View proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 24) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Independence 55-53. The win was nothing new for the Cyclones as they're now sitting on five straight.

Several Independence players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abhay Grewal, who went 7 of 9 en route to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Grewal a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Ratliff, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Eastern View's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern View will face off against Chancellor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Chancellor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58 points per game this season. As for Independence, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Woodgrove at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
