Alcorn Central had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Falkner Eagles a 3-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Eagles two weeks ago, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Not much got past Jarrett Thomas, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Falkner off the board. Thomas also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Alcorn Central is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Alcorn Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayse Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Alcorn Central's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Falkner, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alcorn Central will venture away from home to face off against Nettleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Falkner, they will head out to take on Hickory Flat at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Falkner is facing Hickory Flat at the right time seeing as Hickory Flat is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
