Football Recap: Pioneer Diamondbacks vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears
Pioneer couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 34-0 loss at the hands of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears. The Diamondbacks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2021.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo had a senior duo take command as Jorge Alanis gained 172 total yards and two touchdowns and Myles Lopez threw for 381 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Vallejo was Lopez's top target, picking up 196 receiving yards.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will welcome Rio Grande City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they will square off against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
