Baseball Recap: Cloquet Comes Up Short

Cloquet extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They came up short against the Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] Wolverines, falling 10-0. The Lumberjacks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia], they now have a winning record of 3-2. Considering they have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia]'s part, Blake Bailey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Bailey was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Bird, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. Caz Carlson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
