Football Recap: Radford Sets Scoring Season-High Against Floyd County + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Radford). They were the clear victors by a 44-21 margin over the Floyd County Buffaloes on Friday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Buffaloes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Peyton Dobbins went supernova, rushing for 122 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 286 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. His passing game has become a key predictor of Radford's success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Radford's defense stepped up as well, laying out Sam Phillips five times. Leading the way was Cole Martin with two sacks. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Floyd County lost, don't look at Phillips. Despite the final result, he rushed for 116 yards and one score, and also threw for 53 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Max Harris, who rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Radford now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Floyd County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Looking ahead, Radford will face off against Martinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Floyd County, they will square off against Glenvar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buffaloes will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points in their last five matchups.
