Basketball Game Preview: Sheridan Yellowjackets vs. Lakeside Rams

The Sheridan Yellowjackets will take on the Lakeside Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sheridan comes in on six and Lakeside on seven.

If Sheridan beats Lakeside with 54 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Sheridan strolled past El Dorado with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-40.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeside). They came out on top against Lake Hamilton by a score of 77-66 on Tuesday. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.

Sheridan better keep an eye on Payton Futch. She was instrumental in Lakeside's win, almost dropping a double-double with 30 points and nine boards. Futch is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played. Mckenzie Williams was another key player, going 5-for-12 on her way to 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Sheridan pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. As for Lakeside, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Sheridan came up short against Lakeside in their previous matchup back in January, falling 49-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points along with seven boards and three steals. Now that Sheridan knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
