Baseball Recap: Carnegie Vanguard Find Success

Carnegie Vanguard hadn't done well against Westbury recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Rhinos walked away with a 5-1 win over the Huskies. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-0 on Tuesday.

The team relied heavily on Grant Go, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Carnegie Vanguard is undefeated when Go posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Bennett Woolsey also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Carnegie Vanguard and bumps their season record up to 11-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Westbury, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14-1.

Looking ahead, Carnegie Vanguard is taking a road trip to challenge Randle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rhinos surely won't give up without a fight. Westbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
