Volleyball Recap: Milpitas Trojans vs. Carlmont Scots

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Milpitas couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 3-1 to the Carlmont Scots on Tuesday. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Scots recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Milpitas started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21.

Julia Grigorescu paced Milpitas' offense, picking up 12 kills. Grigorescu got some help from Ashley Chen and her 21 assists. Chen was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Carlmont found their leader in sophomore Olivia Luey, who had 22 digs and 11 assists. Those 11 assists set a new season-high mark for Luey.

With the defeat, Milpitas broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-8. As for Carlmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season.
