Soccer Game Preview: Air Academy vs. Mead

The Air Academy Kadets are taking a road trip to challenge the Mead Mavericks on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Air Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Pueblo West with a sharp 4-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Air Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

They hit Pueblo West with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Makenna Agrimson (2), Ionie Christopherson, and Hadley Schweiger.

Meanwhile, Mead came tearing into Wednesday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.1 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Mead's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last seven contests.

Mead's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. As for Air Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-2 record this season.

Air Academy beat Mead 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Do the Kadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
