Softball Recap: Grovetown Beats South Gwinnett for Their Fourth Straight Win

Grovetown had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They put the hurt on the South Gwinnett Comets with a sharp 18-6 win. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly 12 runs.

Josalyn Sergent was excellent, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yessy Lugo, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Grovetown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .464 or higher in three consecutive games.

Grovetown's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for South Gwinnett, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grovetown will challenge Greenbrier at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolfpack have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for South Gwinnett, they will host Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
