Softball Game Preview: Goldthwaite Eagles vs. Center Point Pirates

For the second straight game, Goldthwaite will face off against Center Point. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m.

Goldthwaite is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Center Point 21-3 on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Rylee Greenway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenley Howard, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Andi Edwards, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Goldthwaite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Goldthwaite's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Center Point, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
