Cherry dropped their record down to 9-2 on Monday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hibbing Bluejackets by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Hibbing, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season.

For Hibbing's part, Tate Swanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Hibbing's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Davey, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Davey has hit this season.

Coming up, Cherry will face off against Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hibbing, they will take on Duluth East at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
