It was a good run, but Yates unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Washington Eagles, falling 91-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since February 27, 2024.

It was another big night for Samuel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 18 boards for Washington. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Jalen Webb was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 16 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Yates' loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6. As for Washington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-4.

Yates and Washington should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Yates will square off against Furr at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 453 places (234 vs. 687). Yates will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Washington (ranked 231st) will meet Northside (ranked 1362nd) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
