Basketball Recap: River Ridge Falls Short of Roosevelt in the Playoffs

River Ridge and Roosevelt squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but River Ridge had to settle for second. They fell 67-56 to the Roosevelt Roughriders. The Hawks have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Despite the loss, River Ridge still got an impressive performance from Brandi Stanford, who shot 43% from the field on her way to 21 points along with five assists and four steals. Stanford's big performance that evening made it 16 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mya Armstrong, who posted 14 points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clara Swanson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Swanson has become a key player for Roosevelt: the team is 15-1 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Curtis, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

River Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Roosevelt, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-9.

As of now, neither River Ridge nor Roosevelt have any future games scheduled.
