Baseball Recap: Bloomingdale Takes Down Bartow in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Bloomingdale rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Bartow Yellow Jackets with a sharp 10-0 win. The Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Bloomingdale got a great performance from Hayden Porter as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Porter a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Payton Jennings and Alvin Cruz did most of the damage at the plate: Jennings scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Cruz scored a run while going 1-for-1. The team also got some help courtesy of Cesar Campos, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Bloomingdale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bartow, they dropped their record down to 6-19 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road.

Coming up, Bloomingdale will face off against Durant at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulls' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Bartow does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
