Baseball Game Preview: Wagener-Salley War Eagles vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

Wagener-Salley hasn't had much luck against Ridge Spring-Monetta recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The War Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Wagener-Salley will be strutting in after a victory while Ridge Spring-Monetta will be coming in after a loss.

Wagener-Salley took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Williston-Elko by a score of 9-4.

Channing Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Smith was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Wagener-Salley let Dylan Bevell and Hayden Jordan run wild. Bevell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Jordan went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Jordan has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Barnett, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Ridge Spring-Monetta came up short against Horse Creek Academy on Friday, falling 9-3. The Trojans have struggled against the Stallions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Wagener-Salley's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Wagener-Salley might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Ridge Spring-Monetta in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the War Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
