Basketball Recap: Willow Spring Beats Fuquay - Varina for Their Second Straight Win

If Fuquay - Varina wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Willow Spring, they should've done a better job of containing Taylor Gray. The Willow Spring Storm were the clear victor by a 62-39 margin over the Fuquay - Varina Bengals on Friday thanks in part to Gray, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Tiana Leach, who posted nine points and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Bengals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chloe Webb, who earned 13 points and five rebounds. Abigail Meaney was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 14 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Willow Spring and bumps their season record up to 9-5. As for Fuquay - Varina, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Clayton the next time they take the court. Fuquay - Varina will head out to face Clayton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Willow Spring will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
