Recap: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Space Coast Vipers

The Cocoa Beach Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Space Coast. Cocoa Beach lost against Space Coast in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 59-15 score last time.

Despite the loss, Cocoa Beach still got an impressive performance from AJ Overdorf, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylea Holland, who scored ten points.

Space Coast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Layla Mangum led the charge by scoring 16 points. That's the first time this season that Mangum scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Hill, who scored 12 points.

Cocoa Beach has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Space Coast, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Satellite the next time they take the court. Cocoa Beach will head out to face Satellite at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Space Coast will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
