Softball Game Preview: Steele Comets vs. Hurricane Redskins

The Steele Comets will square off against the Hurricane Redskins at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Steele is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Woodrow Wilson 10-2 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Hurricane came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Kate Justice looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaden Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Hadley Lawson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

Hurricane lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Hurricane's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Steele, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
