Soccer Game Preview: Marquez vs. Elizabeth

The Marquez Gladiators will challenge the Elizabeth Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marquez will be strutting in after a victory while Elizabeth will be coming in after a loss.

Marquez is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Sotomayor on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won five matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth fell victim to Maywood Academy and their airtight defense on Monday. They fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 1-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Nighthawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Marquez pushed their record up to 5-4-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four contests. As for Elizabeth, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Marquez took their victory against Elizabeth in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0. Will Marquez repeat their success, or does Elizabeth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
