Volleyball Recap: Angelica Gazic and Lauren Wilkerson Secure Win for Sandia Prep + How To Watch

Sandia Prep lost to Del Norte back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Sundevils were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Knights.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Sandia Prep took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-8, 25-13.

Leading Sandia Prep to victory were Lauren Wilkerson and Angelica Gazic. Wilkerson had 14 digs and four aces, while Gazic had four digs and two aces. Wilkerson has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 20 times she's played. Zia Moyer also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Sandia Prep was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matchups.

Sandia Prep's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Del Norte, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Sandia Prep will square off against McCurdy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Del Norte, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Menaul on the 27th.
