Softball Recap: Fernley Takes Down Lowry in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Fernley had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They skirted past the Lowry Buckaroos 4-2. The victory was nothing new for the Vaqueros as they're now sitting on three straight.

Janessa Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Taylor Tollestrup, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 20 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ximena Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Fernley's win bumped their record up to 27-9. As for Lowry, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 26-8.

Fernley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-4 victory against Churchill County on the 10th. Lowry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
