Softball Game Preview: Oasis Sharks vs. Cape Coral Seahawks

The Oasis Sharks will venture away from home to face off against the Cape Coral Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oasis is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Oasis came up short against Port Charlotte and fell 7-4.

Oasis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyra Cavender, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Cape Coral beat Estero 6-2 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seahawks.

Emma Brannan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jocelyn Slater, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Cape Coral's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Oasis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Both Oasis and Cape Coral just can't seem to miss. The Sharks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Cape Coral struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Oasis came up short against Cape Coral in their previous meeting back in March, falling 4-0. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
