Basketball Recap: Academy of Richmond County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Aquinas last Tuesday, Academy of Richmond County came back down to earth. The Academy of Richmond County Musketeers lost 84-63 to the West Laurens Raiders on Friday. The Musketeers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-28.

Nas Jones was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards for West Laurens. The dominant performance also gave Jones a new career-high in blocks (eight). RJ Whipple was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 17 points.

Academy of Richmond County's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for West Laurens, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Looking ahead, Academy of Richmond County will face off against Hephzibah at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Academy of Richmond County is facing Hephzibah at the right time seeing as Hephzibah is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. West Laurens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
