Basketball Game Preview: Blaine Bengals vs. Owatonna Huskies

The Blaine Bengals will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Owatonna Huskies at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Blaine is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 110-104 hit to the loss column at the hands of Champlin Park. The Bengals have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Owatonna had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They secured a 72-68 W over the Panthers.

Owatonna pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Blaine, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Blaine didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Owatonna in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 71-65 win. Will Blaine repeat their success, or does Owatonna have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
