Basketball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Patriots vs. Dugway Mustangs

Mount Vernon is 9-1 against Dugway since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mount Vernon Patriots will welcome the Dugway Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Dugway took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Vernon, who comes in off a win.

Mount Vernon is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Utah School for the Deaf & Blind to the tune of 63-15 on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mount Vernon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Wharton, who posted 20 points. The dominant performance gave Wharton a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Alex Song, who put up 14 points along with five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Dugway came up short against Telos on Wednesday and fell 63-54. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with Telos recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Mount Vernon will need focus on slowing down Tanner Thackeray, one of several Dugway players who made an impact when they last played. He had 17 points. Thackeray's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Williams Jr, who earned 16 points.

Dugway's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Mount Vernon, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14.
