Softball Game Preview: Catholic Central Irish vs. Cedarville Indians

For the second straight game, Catholic Central will face off against Cedarville. The Irish will welcome the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Catholic Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Catholic Central and Cedarville, and Cedarville kept the tradition alive. The Irish came up short against the Indians on Monday, falling 14-2.

For Cedarville's part, Joscelyn Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Evans has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Cedarville got a massive performance out of Chloe Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Reed, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Cedarville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cedarville moved to 9-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Catholic Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
