Basketball Recap: Bunn Falls Despite Big Games from CJ Kearney and Josiah Rice

Bunn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Halifax Vikings. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in December of 2022.

Josiah Rice and CJ Kearney certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Rice went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Kearney went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Smith, who posted nine points and eight steals.

Javon Kee was the offensive standout of the contest as he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. Jeffery Mills was another key player, putting up six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Bunn's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Northwest Halifax, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.

Bunn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-59 loss against Vance County on the 27th. As for Northwest Halifax, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 63-41 victory against Howard on the 27th.
