Basketball Recap: Spoto Spartans vs. Lennard Longhorns
Spoto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 46-39 to the Lennard Longhorns. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Spoto's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerren Rodriguez, who posted 14 points. Donovan McSwain was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.
Lennard can attribute much of their success to Devin Freeman, who had 14 points and three steals. Freeman has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Makai Hills, who put up seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
Spoto's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Lennard, their record now sits at 3-4.
Spoto wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-48 win against Tampa Bay Tech on the 11th. As for Lennard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-44 loss against Chamberlain on the 11th.
