Football Game Preview: Cumby Trojans vs. Clarksville Tigers

The Cumby Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Clarksville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cumby is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

On Friday, Cumby humbled Detroit with a 50-16 victory. The Trojans pushed the score to 44-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Cumby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chayton Vaughan led the charge by rushing for 130 yards on only five carries, while also picking up 60 receiving yards. Channing Herman was another key player, throwing for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cumby was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 404 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, Clarksville strolled past Celeste with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 21-7.

The victory got Cumby back to even at 3-3. As for Clarksville, their record is now 5-2.

Cumby couldn't quite finish off Clarksville when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 56-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Jonathan Morgan, who threw for 252 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 142 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
