Baseball Recap: Stockdale Drops Highest Score of Season Against Garces Memorial

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stockdale). They never let the Garces Memorial Rams get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Thursday. The Mustangs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26, 2024.

Stockdale got a great performance from Colton Kaiser as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, Kaiser posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Stockdale let Brock Johnson and Brayden Gutierrez run wild. Johnson scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Gutierrez fired off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ko Murguia, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Stockdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Stockdale is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Garces Memorial, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Looking ahead, Stockdale will be taking part in a tournament against Liberty at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Garces Memorial, they will square off against Garfield at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
