Future USC Trojan broke state record for single season passing yardage.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2021 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Devin Brown of Corner Canyon (Draper) is the 2021 MaxPreps Utah High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior quarterback put up record numbers in leading the Chargers to a 12-2 record and an appearance in the Class 6A state championship game.

Brown completed nearly 70 percent of his pass attempts for a state record 4,881 yards and 57 touchdowns. He added 430 yards and eight scores on the ground.

In his debut for Corner Canyon in August after moving from Arizona, Brown connected on 18 of 22 pass attempts for 459 yards and eight TDs. He had three other 400-yard passing performances over the course of the season.

Brown is considered one of the top 100 prospects in the country by 247Sports. He committed to USC in September over offers from Ohio State, Texas, UCLA and Wisconsin among others.

Current USC freshman quarterback Jaxson Dart of Corner Canyon was the 2020 MaxPreps Utah Player of the Year after leading the Chargers to a 14-0 record and Class 6A state title, throwing for 4,691 yards and 67 touchdowns. He added another 1,195 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released in early January.
