Soccer Game Preview: Ola vs. Monroe Area

The Ola Mustangs will head out to challenge the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Ola will head out to face Monroe Area after giving up their first home loss of the season two weeks ago. The Mustangs lost 4-0 to Walnut Grove. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Ola couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monroe Area, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 4-2 win over North Hall on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Monroe Area needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

The victory snapped Monroe Area's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-10 record. As for Ola, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 9-3.

Ola was able to grind out a solid win over Monroe Area in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
