Baseball Game Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Hillsdale FIGHTING KNIGHTS

The Leigh Longhorns will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Hillsdale FIGHTING KNIGHTS at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Leigh is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell just short of Saint Francis by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday.

Brandon Kim made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four).

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Hillsdale made sure to put some runs up on the board against Westmont on Thursday. Hillsdale blew past Westmont 12-3.

Hugo Guzman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Guzman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Hillsdale got a massive performance out of Bennett Young, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Thomas Schultz was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Hillsdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westmont only managed three hits.

Leigh beat Hillsdale 6-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will Leigh repeat their success, or does Hillsdale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
