Baseball Game Preview: Arleta Mustangs vs. Marquez Gladiators

The Arleta Mustangs will face off against the Marquez Gladiators at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Arleta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against East Valley by a score of 8-3.

The team relied heavily on Robert Howze, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Melendez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Arleta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Meanwhile, Marquez entered their tilt with Stella High Charter Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 19-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory got Marquez back to even at 11-11. As for Arleta, their win bumped their record up to 7-15.
