Basketball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lincoln can now relate to. They were beaten by the Keyser Golden Tornado 67-39 on Thursday. The match was a close 29-26 at the break, but unfortunately for the Cougars it sure didn't stay that way.

Hope Blackwell and Brystol Toth certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Blackwell posted nine points and six rebounds, while Toth scored eight points along with seven boards and three blocks. The dominant performance also gave Blackwell a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Aundrea Rockwell, who put up two points and three blocks.

Lincoln dropped their record down to 9-15 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Keyser, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Keyser, they will square off against Wayne at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wayne comes in on 11 and Keyser on five.
