Baseball Recap: Christchurch School's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Christchurch School ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Fork Union Military Academy Blue Devils 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Seahorses as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Peyton West made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Christchurch School is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-7 otherwise. West was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mac Bargatze, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Byers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Christchurch School's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Fork Union Military Academy, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christchurch School will face off against Virginia Episcopal School at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fork Union Military Academy, they will take on Trinity Episcopal at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
