Baseball Game Preview: Stratford Red Devils vs. Masuk Panthers

Stratford hasn't had much luck against Masuk recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Red Devils will host the Panthers at 4:15 p.m.

New Milford hit Stratford with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 11-1 to the Green Wave.

Meanwhile, Masuk had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Bobcats 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Bobcats since May 3, 2019.

Masuk got a great performance from Jacob Mondo as he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mondo has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chris Welch was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Convertito, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Masuk now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Stratford, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.
