Football Recap: Leigh Piles Up the Points Against Gilroy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leigh). They breezed past the Gilroy Mustangs to the tune of 48-14 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

It was another big night for Blake Zanger, who rushed for 137 yards and four scores. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards dating back to last season. Miles Huntington was another key player, picking up 135 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Leigh didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Callahan Milroy and Huntington.

The victory made it two in a row for Leigh and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 28 points in those games. As for Gilroy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Leigh and Gilroy will both be playing Silver Creek the next time they take the field. The Longhorns will head out to face the Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will host them at 7:15 p.m. on October 2.
