Baseball Recap: Oak Ridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cardinal Newman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Ridge). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinal Newman Cardinals a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Trojans not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024.

Oak Ridge got a great performance from Ethan Lamb as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lamb also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Trojans are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Ryan Hubbard was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jack Spero was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Oak Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Oak Ridge and bumps their season record up to 8-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Cardinal Newman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Oak Ridge will head out to square off against Del Oro at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cardinal Newman, they will be playing at home against Windsor at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
