The biggest upset of the week belonged to Osage City, who took down 213th ranked Northern Heights, 26-14. Ryan Haskins threw for 118 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 129 yards in the win.
Lyndon's Josh Owens recorded the longest rushing play in Flint Hills this season in his game against Council Grove last week. Owens' team defeated the Braves as he sprinted for 81 yards on the play and finished with 329 in all.
Drake Whalen was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Indians topped the Wildcats. The 5-foot-7 senior.
He was 8-14 with 0 interception.
Owens was a force in the backfield as Lyndon beat Council Grove.
Owens was a passing and rushing force as Rod Stallbaumer's team beat Lee Weber's team. Owens' favorite target this week was Dawson Swinehart, who caught 2 passes for 72 yards.
Owens was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 329 yards as the Tigers lost to Mission Valley. Gaige Brecheisen also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Joe Walsh and Owens, Lyndon has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Walsh leads the league in passing with 803 yards, while Owens has rushed for 686 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is the Bulldogs' Watts, with 353 yards on 24 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West Franklin takes on the Vikings. The Falcons are currently in fourth, while Mission Valley is in second.
Adding to the longest winning streak in Flint Hills this week, the Tigers beat the Braves 62-32. The victory was the fourth in a row for Lyndon.
