Recap: Sunnyside Wildcats vs. Fresno Warriors
The Sunnyside Wildcats waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. Everything went their way against Fresno as Sunnyside made off with a 76-50 win. Given Sunnyside's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Fresno is ranked 699th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cj Jones had an outrageously good game as he scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Malachi Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Sunnyside is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Fresno, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will face off against Torres at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Sunnyside has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 803 points over their last 12 contests. As for Fresno, they will head out on the road to face off against Sanger West at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sanger West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Wednesday.
