League recap: Hardee tops Southeast to extend winning streak

Hardee extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 13 this week by beating Southeast, 35-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

The Seminoles fell to Hardee 35-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. James Thomas threw for 114 yards and 1 touchdown in the defeat.

Kris Johnson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Buddy Martin's team bested Paul Maechtle's team. He completed 5 passes for 96 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 80 yards.

Keyonte Holley was the best running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 161 yards as the Wildcats defeated the Seminoles. Timmy Steedley also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.

Hardee's Johnson and Tristen Lanier led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 756 yards this season, while Lanier has 13 catches for 300 yards. Southeast's Courtney Allen leads the league in rushing yards with 1,028.

As it stands, the Seminoles are in third, while Booker is in second.

The Tornadoes made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,462 from 3,941. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-20 victory over Bayshore last week.
