Recap: Florence Falcons vs. Madison Academy Mustangs
The Florence Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. Their2023 ended with a 70-52 loss against Madison Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Florence in their matchups with Madison Academy: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaisyion Payne, who scored 15 points. Payne continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant James, who scored 12 points.
Florence's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Madison Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Florence won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McAdory at 10:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. McAdory is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Madison Academy and Buckhorn will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Buckhorn is ranked seventh, while Madison Academy is ranked 20th).
