Recap: Castle View Sabercats vs. Doherty Spartans
It was a good run, but the Castle View Sabercats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 73-47 walloping at the hands of Doherty. Castle View was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Doherty apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Sabercats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Graham, who scored 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mckean, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Doherty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Mack led the charge by scoring 14 points. Mack is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Maddox Dee-Mortensen was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Castle View's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Doherty, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Castle View's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hinkley at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hinkley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Doherty, they will head out on the road to face off against Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Eaglecrest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Doherty likes a good challenge.
