Basketball Game Preview: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Apex Cougars

The Southern Alamance Patriots will take on the Apex Cougars in a tournament on Monday. Southern Alamance has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row dating back to last season, Southern Alamance turned things around against East Chapel Hill on Saturday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 27-20.

Southern Alamance found their leader in freshman Gabby Vincent, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Holloway, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, Apex had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They wrapped up 2024 with a 41-23 victory over South Granville.

Southern Alamance's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Apex, their victory bumped their record up to 2-9.

Southern Alamance couldn't quite finish off Apex when the teams last played back in December of 2019 and fell 45-42. Thankfully for Southern Alamance, Savanna Coffel (who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
