Basketball Recap: South Lamar Stallions vs. Berry Wildcats
The South Lamar Stallions and the Berry Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but sadly the South Lamar Stallions had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 40-38. South Lamar was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Monday.
It was another big night for Maggie Mauldin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 rebounds for Berry. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mauldin has scored at least a third of Berry's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Hill, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for South Lamar and nudges their season record down to 3-13. As for Berry, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-18.
South Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Berry will head out on the road to square off against the Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Spirit Catholic is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
