Bolton is 0-4 against Memphis Central since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. Bolton is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They lost 19-4 to Fayette Ware.
Bolton got a good showing from Ibrahim Thiaw, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Meanwhile, Memphis Central made easy work of Southwind on Saturday and carried off a 12-1 win. Considering the Warriors have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Joshua Thurmon spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Memphis Central let Orlando Jones and Beiker Leon run wild. Jones went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Leon got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Jones has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Ryan, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Memphis Central has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Bolton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bolton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Memphis Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bolton might still be hurting after the 21-2 loss they got from Memphis Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
